Upgrading from 3.3.3 to 3.4.4

My only remaining guess:  Did you modify any of the shibboleth-idp/system or /dist directories?

There must exist some script check for the installer to detect whether it's an upgrade vs a new install.  My guess is that you've changed something so that it fails to detect an upgrade.

Yes - I have also checked the permissions (chown -R shib /opt/shibboleth-idp & chgrp -R shib /opt/shibboleth-idp).

I have also manually entered the path '/opt/shibboleth-idp'

Same messaging occurs; as it is non-prod, I also tried running install with 'root' - same messaging.

/opt/shibboleth-idp

[shib at idp1 shibboleth-idp]$ ls

Are you sure that this is where your current IdP is installed?
