Processing HTTP_Redirect from idp

We are in the process of moving entityID's. I don't know how "example idp"
has theirs configured but in the case they have explicitly named the
corresponding SP's entityID, *and they are still pointing at the old one, *is
the HTTP redirect indicative of that situation?
For example, the example idp is setup to use this link:
https://shibboleth.company.com/Shibboleth.sso/Login?entityID=
"exampleentityid"
and we are trying to test their configuration using:
https://sso.company.com/Shibboleth.sso/Login?entityID="exampleentityid"
We are in a precarious state where we need to serve thousands of users and
we want to switch them over to a new SP, *seamlessly*. Our plan was to
change DNS records/bindings so that their login links point to the new site
- but we want to do that with as much confidence as possible. Do you have
any recommendations? I realize this question might be outside the scope of
this forum.
Thanks
