The testshib team get my personal thanks.  

As a technical aside - and it's not there yet - a lot of the pain from last weekend might be finessable by the use of
LocalDynamicMetadataProviders, this are currently available in the IdP and is coming in the SP in V3.  

At that stage metadata parsing becomes part of request processing and in theory a failure there should only kill the request itself
thus limiting damage.

I'll take a note to ensure that this is the case as part of end to end testing or the SP
