Yes, I'm aware. <shrug> This is a complicated mix of issues and dependencies and very little project bandwidth to deal with it.
 
There's no way we can rush out a 3.0, so that means potentially introducing major changes to platform support in a point release, so we're going to get complaints either way. I was hoping to maybe wait out the EOL for Apache 2.2 but that's still a year away. There doesn't even seem to be a 2.2 build there for VC14.
