Might be you're better off moving some of the external behavior users are getting into views in the flow also, don't know what it does or needs access to. Views in Velocity are very easy to make if it's just showing stuff to people, plus of course you can rely on the identity of the user and attributes to do things, vs. having to authenticate them all over again if it's on a second server.
