I agree that I'm pretty sure they used to. Certainly, that's the IdP v2
config we've had since 2009. However, while exploring the recommendation
to try others, I also looked up current documentation, where they use a
Format whose definition I can't find:

I tested urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress, which
worked fine, as well as my current internally defined format.
