Hi Scott,
Thanks for the response. I did use the proper case when I entered the url in the browser.
Since you response I tried to connect using http: and I did get a 404 response. With the https: I only get the ³This page can¹t be displayed. ³ response. The ssl cert is correctly bound to the site using port 443 and the ip address so not sure what is going on there. Using http: resulted in log entries in native.log. I am not sure what to look for in there. I also find that IIS logs are not that helpful either. If you could point me in the right direction It would be very appreciated.

Firstly, it's /Shibboleth.sso/Status, so you have both parts of that URL wrongly cased.
Secondly, if the site won't respond at all with a 404 or an error, that might mean you don't have SSL enabled, which has nothing to do with the SP at all, that's up to IIS. And in any case IIS will hide the real errors from you as the wiki notes, unless you fix it to stop doing that. If SSL is on, and that's an actual error page, IIS is hiding it from you.
