Network issues causing SPs to timeout

In what sense are they timing out?

The only timeout the IdP has is if it connects to something, so you can
always change those, sure. They should be no more than 1-3 seconds anyway,
so the overall response time oughtn't be that high. I guess it depends on
the error tolerance you have.
