The OP said, "login fails and we receive error," which sounds like just
what you describe above.  Personally I think that's a show-stopper for
using the current SP memcached implementation.  The use of memcached
should not in any case make the SP return errors where it wouldn't if it
were a non-clustered instance.  That is a bad result for those of us who
have session stickiness and just want memcached for the occasional system
maintenance where some cluster members are taken off-line or for when the
user waits too long between connections and our load balancer forgets
their sticky session.

If I can magically find time in my team's schedule, maybe we'll look into
replacing libmemcached with libcouchbase and report back here, but no
promises...
