Non Incommon SPs

Hi all,

We are working with an outside vendor that is not a member of Incommon. They claim to be SAML 2 SP compliant (unknown SP software).

We have never integrated with a non Incommon SP before. Does anyone have experience integrating an Incommon IDP with a non Incommon SP? Their specs are nothing more than a whole lot of SAML XML and what they expect.

They have never heard of Shibboleth (or eduPerson) and have no interest in joining Incommon.

What are the steps we can make to make this possible? Do we require they provide us with their SP's metadata or can we create that on our own. I am also not sure about certificate exchange for SAML assertions.

Any idea the level of effort we will need to make this happen (man hours)?

I found a post regarding this dating back to 2009 but the thread died after Nate's response.
