Folder is all but deprecated (probably will be, I haven't decided yet), given how it's implemented it's useless now. It's been replaced by LocalDynamic, which is superior. The file name issue is annoying but it's just necessary to make it work well.
AFAIK, the syntax for the IdP is equivalent to the MDQ shorthand we added, so I don't think that's really much different.
