Which organization?  UW-Madison, maybe.  Internet2? Not likely.  InCommon? I can talk, not sure how much I can sway.  And it seems to me in the particular case of Shib, the first order of importance is to sway Internet2.  Tactically, I think it's essential to first do our level best to get I2 to step up more decisively and clearly.  I don't want I2 to say, "Well, the Shib Consortium is something that our individual members sign up for. We (I2) don't." That would be a very unfortunate outcome.

Chad, I appreciate your frustration on behalf of the Shib venture.  But discussions always precede action. It's not sufficient, but it's necessary.  I don't think there's broad enough recognition of the problem you raise and discussion is an essential step toward addressing that.     --Keith
