I may have lost the plot but in general the point of a parent is to be separate from the child itself or just in support of a multi-module project (e.g. idp-parent).

I’m not sure there needs to be a parent at all if it’s a single module AND isn’t used by anything else. It’s just “put it in the POM” at that point.
