Paul's spot-on -- has this ever worked and if so how did they manage
to break it?
FWIW, the official Debian packages for the SP are working fine and
simply installing libapache2-mod-shib pulls in all required depdencies.
No guesswork or "dependency hell" involved whatsoever.
Debian 11 certainly is quite old at this point (with official security
support having ended over a year ago) but it's still covered by LTS.
And the `check-support-status` command (from the package
debian-security-support) does not mention limited/dropped support for
the SP's packages. So the SP is still (somewhat) supported by the
Debian LTS Team, even on Debian 11, until August this year.
(After that, ELTS -- Extended Long Term Support -- might still be
available for several more years. But best to plan an upgrade to
Debian Stable instead, which should include how to keep current
running stable releases in the future.)
Best,
-peter
