iOS devices time out when redirected to Shibboleth

hi,

given that these 2 issues:


   - On iPad and iOS devices,
   - When connected to a specific Wifi network (doesn't happen on mobile
   network, or other Wifi networks)

means that everything works fine for all other devices (even when on that
same problematic WiFi network) ?  If so, then those iOS devices are fine on
4G/5G and okay on other networks - this is then a direct interplay between
iOS and the WiFi network - I would suggest that the environment of that
wifi network is looked at - DNS details, any traffic blocking rules - does
the same happen on a MacOS device?    are there any web proxies involved?
does that service have a particular web certificate with eg CRL details
that cannot be ascertained by the safari client?   does another browser on
these devices work?
