MDQ queries Accept header

Hello list.

The Sibboleth IdP MDQ documentation mention pre-loading specific SP 
metadata as a strategy to reduce impact of MDQ server unavailability. 
Incommond documentation 
(https://spaces.at.internet2.edu/display/MDQ/prefetch-entity-with-shib) 
also mentions this strategy, using a FileBackedHTTPMetadataProvider to 
implement it.

Given than this last provider uses "text/html" as Accept query header, 
whereas MDQ query are supposed to use "the content-type identifying the 
type, or form, of metadata to be retrieved", according to the RFC 
(examples use "application/samlmetadata+xml"), is there still any value 
on MDQ server side to check this header, in order to be handle requests 
differently ? Or shouldn't Shibboleth IdP rather allow to specify a 
different query header for requests, for all remote metadata providers ?
