Handling LDAP Data Connector Timeouts

We have two LDAP data connectors, one to OpenLDAP and one to Active Directory. The most important attributes are in OpenLDAP. We recently had some timeouts to AD, and these timeouts cause no attributes to be returned for the user at all. Is there some way to handle the AD failure smoother so that it doesn't impact the OpenLDAP query and attributes from that successful query are returned?
