I really don't know enough about CAS to speak to it, I'm just saying there's really nothing that can be done with group-based rules right now out of the box, they just automatically do the extra lookup. You could create your own helper parent bean that doesn't populate the metadataResolver property in the factory method that's used to build RelyingPartyByGroup beans.
