Okay, I created IDP-1694. I'm going to want this working before you'll probably  have the time to take a look at it anyway, so I attached a couple of patches that hopefully if nothing else will save you a little time. I verified they compiled with the main branches, but tested them by cherry picking back to 4.0.1 and deploying on my dev systems. It looks good, no more complaints in the logs, and the systems accessing via IPv6 are successful now.
