To be fair, you originally said that the IdP response did not have a duplicate but the SP does. Obviously that's impossible, so I'm simply assuming the IdP in fact generated a duplicate, and that it wasn't doing so before.

It is true that under most conditions, one would expect that a duplication issue occurring because of an improper upgrade would not be limited to one Attribute, but that would really depend on what was released in a particular case and what the original resolver configuration was.
