I think you're missing one, move to a current release of this OS that has better (I assume) packages.

But I would be surprised if a commercial OS was letting software it included rot, so I have no reason to believe they aren't backporting fixes. I will see if I can find any record of the source tree since it would save me time in the long run if I can demonstrate they are being maintained.
