Shibboleth SP / LDAP groups / htaccess files

We have a web application running from an apache web server that is 
configured for ldapauth and based on ldap group membership determines 
what users are authorized to see and do.  Other aspects are protected by 
.htaccess files that contain list of users.

The direction for this application is to protect it with a Shibboleth 
SP.  When a login against our IdP is performed that action also enforces 
the use of our 2FA.  The protect of our 2FA is another item folks want 
for this application.

Can a Shibboleth SP protect this application and still use ldap groups 
and .htaccess files for authorization?
