v3.3.3 - possible to call webservice with interceptor flow?

It is not clear to me how to use Java code in an interceptor. I have
already configured an interceptor to check a value of an attribute but this
only involved setting up a bean and webflow definition which are xml based.
I havent found any example of how to execute a java method (maybe a custom
jsp would ultimately be used instead).
