You could start by pointing them to the resources I have already referenced/summarized for your convenience in my previous post. That should get them up and running rather quickly. Also note that the Shibboleth integration is the easier of the parts, the LDAP integration (which you'll need in addition to SAML) is the more complex part, esp since noone having done this ever bothered to do a complete write-up.
But the threads I referenced should get you there.
