I've no idea, I'm simply answering your question (and only that question, I'm not getting sucked into this thread, it has nothing to do with my software, and everything to do with your personal environment).  If you want to know what the SP is actually doing, look at its logs and it will tell you. If it generated a 302 at that location to a custom value supplied for homeURL, there is little doubt that it processed the SAML response and created a session and with no relay state defaulted itself to redirecting to homeURL. That's it.
