shibd thread keeps reloading

The problem started on Dec 13 when system patches were installed (Centos 7) because the log rotation for these two logs (native.log and native_warn.log) stopped on that date as well. Native.log is up to 1 GB but native.logger has the default size:
log4j.appender.warn_log.maxFileSize=1000000
it's not being rotated. The system has been rebooted recently. The old logs were just 4K in size when they were being rotated back in December. So what system RPM could have changed things?

I don't know of any way shibd could get into that state and it's never been reported before. Other than the file constantly changing, not much can cause it.
There's a race on the mod_shib side, which has been patched for the future, but that's a deadlock.
Turning off the top level reload capability is possible, but somewhat a pain, it involves some low level options to manipulate the way the global config gets installed. I would have to probably go dig it out of the archive, I think somebody has made it work in the past.
