Apache 2.4.6, shibd 2.6.0, Shibboleth.sso/status always returns 404

Are you saying that you originally requested /Shibboleth.sso/Status
(with upper-case "Status"), and that the subject of your email was
just wrong, and that without UseCanonicalName set requests to
/Shibboleth.sso/Status 404ed but after setting UseCanonicalName they
now work?
Or are you saying by now setting UseCanonicalName you magically made
requests to /Shibboleth.sso/status (with lower-case status, as written
in the subject of your post) work, even though there's no code in
Shibboleth that would suppor that)?
