That's also a relevant statement, and something that would have helped
get something more concrete going.  Authentication is different by
default between v2 and v3, but v3 can be configured use the same
method as the v2 default, i.e., remote user or JAAS); NameIDs are
different in v3 by default, but the same methods v2 used can be used
in v3, too.  Looking up and transforming attributes is largely the
same, ditto for getting attributes released.

So asking specific questions about how you had certain parts
configured (e.g. authentication, or attribute lookup) and why
something you tried (be specific) does not work for v3 seems like a
perfectly reasonable and in fact the most straightforward way to get
your v3 deployment to work, IMO.
