Then I'd adjust those checks to taste and Keep Things Simple on the
IDP end. You will have lots of other services talking to LDAP via the
load balancer(s), so getting it right /there/ makes much more sense.

Other than that, there's always the ldaptive documentation liked from
several places within the Shibboleth docs.
