What's the value of entityID, then?

FYI, there are lots of tools available, e.g. those documented in the
Shib wiki:
https://wiki.shibboleth.net/confluence/display/CONCEPT/MetadataCorrectness

That's not to say that what you're expieriencing is in fact due to
trying to upload incorrect metadata. Testshib might just have
exploded, for all I know.
