I don't know what to tell you, either they require the artifact binding or they don't. That's not a question I can answer but you should be able to trace the traffic.

I don't know anything about your deployment. Artifact support remains available and is enabled by default.

There is nothing to rewrite, unless it was not SAML compliant to begin with.
