Just FYI, it looks like over the last couple of years, Atlassian made a beta version of SAML support available for their cloud/hosted apps. It is predictably broken for federation (it's single IdP, or at least scales in a way that makes more than a few impractical beause you have to "verify" the domains of the identifiers/email addresses its consuming using https callbacks. If that were something standardized at least, I suppose communities like ours could adopt it, but it's not.

Anyway, just wanted to note it since people do ask about it.
