replacing jetty's default favicon display?

I was careless in reading "JETTY_BASE/webapps" in prior emails.
For the record and others:
in my V3/Jetty deployment I have webapps directories in two places:
/opt/jetty-distribution-9.3.9.v20160517/demo-base/webapps/ROOT
/opt/shibboleth-idp/jetty-base/webapps/ROOT
favicon.ico belongs in in
/opt/jetty-distribution-9.3.9.v20160517/demo-base/webapps/ROOT
not in /opt/shibboleth-idp/jetty-base/webapps/ROOT
no static.xml file required; the favicon.ico there replaces the generic
ugly favicon Jetty displayed prior to this change.
Thank you for the help Chris, Scott, and Aaron!
