Can you please provide links to the documentation that sugegsts to you
this is possible? The ones I've been able to find do not contain
anything to that regard:

* White Paper: Server External Authentication,
http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6822/
The attached "Server External Authentication" guide (16.3MB!)
has this to say on SSO (though wrt FM9):
"Strictly speaking Single Sign On for FileMaker Pro 9 is a Windows OS
client to Windows OS server feature only. However, in Macintosh OS X
the feature can be emulated by storing the credential information in
the Keychain"

* knowledge base entries like
http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13780/
"FileMaker Server supports authentication with the following
externally defined accounts and groups:
  * Windows or OS X account and groups locally defined on the master machine
  * Apple Open Directory and Windows Active Directory accounts and groups,
    which can be on a centrally managed authentication server."
