Incidentally, trying to make the IdP load with the filebacked version of the metadata bombs out on a memory error. I've confirmed that my jetty/idp_base/start.ini has the line
-Xmx1024m
Any suggestions? My /opt/jetty9 folder doesn't have have a start.ini, but I don't think it did in the first place. Do I need to copy/paste the /opt/jetty9/idp_base/start.ini file into /opt/jetty9?
Dave

If you are having problems downloading the metadata in your IdP, one thing to check is how much memory you are allowing java to use. Our IdP servers were having problems updating the metadata, and it turned out the metadata had got too large and the previously recommended 512M was no longer enough - I belive 1024M is now the recommended java size in such cases.
