hostname only from entityID URL

I wonder, where would sit the URL in the metadata officially, because eg
the Organization/OrganizationURL is not fully implemented by the saml sps,
so it would be logical to store that info in entityid. but i have seen
implementations that prohibit the entityid to be url, but has no such url
for sp in sp metadata.
