The IdP isn't involved by that point, and there's no material diifference between the response from V2 or V3 once that step is reached.
At least one other person asked about some kind of issue with Google apps, so I would guess this is more about them than Shibboleth.
I believe that seemed to go away after clearing cookies.
Anyway, if you see an audit log entry for the login, the IdP is done processing and has sent anything it will send back to the browser.
