Centralized Discovery Service - member of federation?

Installed CDS on Debian in Jetty 9 container, on same server as my SP.
Working nicely, thank you. Created custom landing page to list preferred
IdPs, moved admin email and page text to properties file, etc. Updated
wayfconfig.xml to point to new default jsp. No problems.

​The next step in 'productionizing' is to move the CDS to its own host. My
question is, will the CDS have to be added to the federation's metadata (as
an SP maybe?) ?

Since the CDS is running ​on same server as my SP, I did not think about
this before.
