Rod, what do you mean by "jettisoned" the concept?
I'm still not clear if it is possible to validate LDAP and RDBMS after 
initialization.

Just to explain what I'm trying to do. Currently with IDP v2 we have two 
idp servers in two data centers. Nagios monitoring is checking the 
status page for "attribute_resolver_valid: true". If the response is 
anything else, I'm assuming that the idp is not operating properly (ie. 
LDAP server is down, or we lost connection to the data center, ...). 
Nagios then changes DNS record (records have very short TTL) and point 
to the other idp server.

As a workaround for now I have bash script with custom checks, but it is 
not so elegant.

I'm digging through the source code of IDP3, and trying to understand 
how to create custom status page that validates the LDAP and RDBMS 
connectors.
