Meaning the SPs you interact with via InC have no idea about your
SAML2 support.

Nope, you're back to Scott's 1st reply in that thread (and the
suggestion of tricking the InC metadata management interface into
adding SAML2 support but no commonly used endpoints; resorting to such
methods is not necessary if you can control your actual metadata, of
course.)
Of course the transition might be much less bad that it was for Scott
a few years ago, depending on number and "quality" of the SPs used
@jmu.
