symlinks for installation directory

Working on a new 3.2.1 deployment with Jetty 9.3. Is there any reason this
is inadvisable?

[root at login-test login]# ls -ld shib*
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   21 Dec 22 08:40 shibboleth-idp ->
shibboleth-idp-3.2.1/
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 4096 Dec 22 08:38 shibboleth-idp-3.2.1

I was thinking this would make upgrades easier. When running the Shib
install.sh, I used the shibboleth-idp-3.2.1 directory as the Installation
Directory.

Of course, jetty's start.ini would set

    -Didp.home=/path/to/shibboleth-idp
