"Usually" what is used is an OID / URI that is assigned to the organization. This could however be name="bob" as long as it is unique in your environment and both ends of the exchange agree with that naming. What you put here is what is transmitted on the wire during the exchange of the attribute.
Locally, I use the OID and mace identifiers that are assigned to us. These are linked back to my org and reference a known attribute. HTH
