Newbie question

we have a web application which runs on Tomcat 7/ Wweblogic/ Websphere etc web servers. Now we want to implement Single Sign On for this our app along with other web apps. Now do we need to install the identity provider (IdP), and service provider (SP) both for simple implementation?

For simple SSO implementation, yes, an organization will typically run an IdP and multiple SP's.

I am have already installed Idp and it seems responding correctly. Now while I am trying to install SP with Aapache Web Server it does not respond normally.

I need to help and direction on this.

Have you tried starting with an Apache-only installation, then wiring it up to a servlet container?  That may be easier.
