The ODBC plugin isn't beta, it works fine when the libraries and driver work. That's relatively rare on Linux.

Thanks for the info Jacob, the thread you mention sure does persuade me
not to use memcache. So my options to resolve this problem are either
use a "beta" DB plugin with it's own set of problems or take time to
program shibd to dump it's cache on shutdown and read it in on startup.
Also, thanks for the reply Kevin. Since you state, if we went memcache,
we'd be in the minority with little or no support that puts another nail
in the coffin with using memcache.
