Java and sigsegv error

Hi, all,
A couple weeks back, we added a 2nd virtual CPU to our two IDP VMs to boost performance. Starting within a couple days after that, we've started seeing JVMs (both for Tomcat and Terracotta) terminate with SIGSEGV's. I don't suspect a coincidence here.
The Terracotta JVM seems to die about once or twice a week on the standby instance of the Terracotta server within a few minutes after our nightly garbage collection completing on the active node. Garbage collection runs at 2:30, and by 2:35, Terracotta on the other node has died.
We've only seen Tomcat die once, but with a very similar error in the catalina.out to what we see in the Terracotta log.
We're on a fairly old JVM version, 6.0.18, and I'm tempted to try an upgrade as a first attempt to fix this. Just wondered if I was missing some other possible cause first that jumps out at someone on the list.
Thanks,
Keith
