The wiki has some links to some various Java projects involving ECP. Unicon for example did some work on ECP-enabling the Apache commons http client, though it was an older version than what's current. There are other implementations noted, which might help as a source of example code.

I don't know if Spring's implementation includes ECP. I would doubt it, but I couldn't say.
