Yeah, as far as we know it's basically a Xerces/Xalan serializer
problem, and not much we can do to fix.  Unless our v2 plans change
(again), it won't be fixed in v2 since we're tied to a specific version
of Xerces/Xalan.


To the OP: is this actually causing a problem for you?  The 'xml'
namespace decls are unnecessary, but aren't strictly incorrect - just
annoying.  If this is breaking something specific for you, we'd like to
know about it.
