Peter is correct here; CentOS 4 is not a supported platform for the SP. The main reason for this is that CentOS 4 is not a supported platform *by CentOS*, as it was EOLed in February of last year:

You should migrate to a vendor-supported OS platform if you possibly can, before you get hacked to death. If you really can't, you're still better running the supported 2.5.X SP on the unsupported platform than running an unsupported SP on an unsupported platform. You'll need to build the SP yourself of course, as we don't supply pre-built packages for CentOS/RHEL 4 any more.
