I'll look at maybe adding that into the IdP distribution at some point since it's actually more of an IdP operator tool.

That's been my approach, that it's rare enough to not warrant extra work I'm willing to do right now. I have maybe 2-3 cases like that, and none of them are really external in the sense that they really maintain their metadata adequately. If they ever changed it, they'd never tell me anyway, so it's no different than any of my on-campus SPs.
