I will, I need to go back and figure out what it was that made us not do
this in the code base itself (and if I'm wrong, we'll add it to 2.4).

IIRC, it turned out to be an issue with the ordering of events in the
Spring config process of data connectors, not a problem with the LDAP
piece.
